Though he's better known as Mr. Gwen Stefani, Rossdale, former frontman of '90s grunge outfit Bush, still harbors musical ambitions. His first release since 2005's Distort Yourself (as singer for the long-forgotten group Institute), WANDERLUST is, at its best, a bright collection of Daughtry-esque rock boasting anthems like ''Forever May You Run.'' The CD peters out, however, once Rossdale starts crooning about family life. ''You are the sea,'' he sings on ''This Is Happiness.'' ''So I dive in you.'' If only he didn't drown in such saccharine sentiments. B-
