Best known as Cooter, the good ol' boy mechanic on The Dukes of Hazzard, Ben Jones recounts his transformation from boozin', brawlin' womanizer to successful actor to two-term Democratic congressman from Georgia in Redneck Boy in the Promised Land. He engagingly zips through his destitute boyhood in the segregated South and his days as an alcoholic civil rights activist, yet spends barely 20 pages on the Dukes set. Cooter, could you maybe lay off the diplomatic missions to Tbilisi and your not-exactly-revelatory views on dirty Washington politics, and focus a bit more on Daisy's short shorts? B
