Book Review

Loose Girl (2008)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Release Date: Jun 03, 2008; Writer: Kerry Cohen; Genres: Memoir, Nonfiction; Publisher: Hyperion

As an adolescent growing up with her divorced, drug-using, sex-talking father, Kerry Cohen began to develop a craving for male attention, a trait that manifested itself in promiscuity. Rather than chewing up and spitting out the dozens of lovers in her life, though, Cohen yearned for intimacy and love with each one, only to find rejection — not to mention some less-than-desirable parting gifts (e.g., crabs). Loose Girl's sex-centric plot is far from groundbreaking in this memoir-laden world, but Cohen's brutal honesty about her relentless quest for companionship is refreshingly relatable. B+
