QUEEN FOR A DAY: Madonna has had no luck playing a leading lady, so she may become a leading man. The singer is developing a film version of A Low Life in High Heels, the autobiography of an Andy Warhol protégé, drag queen Holly Woodlawn (he and his transvestite friends Jackie Curtis and Candy Darling were immortalized in Lou Reed's ''Walk on the Wild Side''). Harvey Fierstein (Torch Song Trilogy) is writing the script for the flick, in which Madonna will play a composite character based on Darling, who rose to fame as a member of Warhol's superstar stable and died of cancer and pneumonia in 1974, at age 26.
