Broadway Actors Reach Tentative Deal

Actors' Equity, which represents performers on the Broadway stage, arrived at a tentative agreement for a new contract with theatrical producers on Wednesday

(FROM VARIETY) — Actors' Equity, the union that represents Broadway stage performers, has reached a tentative agreement for a new contract with theatrical producers. The deal, which increases actors' compensation by 11.25 percent over more than three years, came about early Wednesday, following an all-night negotiation. The previous contract between the two sides had expired last Sunday. Although this situation is separate from the ongoing negotiations involving the Screen Actors Guild and Hollywood producers, it represents one more entertainment-labor agreement that has been reached in the past several months (following deals made by Hollywood's writers and directors, among others). If ratified, the contract would be valid through September 2011. (Variety)
