Behind the Scenes

Mark Millar, who co-created the 'Wanted' comic, discusses his brush with Hollywood

DID YOU HAVE ANY RESERVATIONS ABOUT WANTED BEING MADE INTO A FILM?
At first I thought, ''Great. The Legally Blonde producer, the 2 Fast 2 Furious writers... This is gonna be a disaster.'' But I absolutely adored the movie.

WASN'T EMINEM UP FOR THE LEAD ROLE?
[Artist JG Jones] drew the character to look like him. So somebody at Universal said, ''We should approach Eminem.'' Like an idiot I told a journalist, and it hit the Internet as ''Eminem signed up for this.'' We got a letter from his representatives [essentially] saying, ''Shut the f--- up.''

YOUR COMIC KICK-ASS IS ALSO BEING ADAPTED. HOW DOES THE HOLLYWOOD ATTENTION FEEL?
It's brilliant. Some poor sods did all the hard work on the script. The Wanted comic only took me eight weeks to do six issues. It'll probably have a sequel, possibly a third sequel. And we get paid...even though there's no [more comics]. It's obscene! And when we went to Universal Studios, we could go on rides without waiting in lines.

DIDN'T THEY RECENTLY HAVE A FIRE THERE?
I had nothing to do with that!
