(FROM VARIETY) – At a news conference on Saturday (July 5), Robert De Niro said that now is not a good time for an actor work stoppage over payments for DVD residuals and new media usage of movies. ''I do not think it is a good time to strike now,'' De Niro said at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. ''The issues could be resolved over the next couple of years [without strike action]. The actor said that the Directors Guild of America was able to get a fair deal earlier this year because they had ''done their homework,'' adding that he does ''not think the actors have done that.''
