'Scrubs' Ponders Life After Braff

(FROM THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER) – Although Zach Braff has said that he will likely leave Scrubs after its debut season on ABC (premiering midseason), creator-showrunner Bill Lawrence and ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson both indicated that the show could live on with new stars, similar to the format that has kept ER on the air for 14 years. ''We do think that it will not hopefully be a one-season situation,'' McPherson said on Wednesday (July 16) at the television critics press tour. ''We do think there's an opportunity after that — talking to Zach, talking to Bill — and whether all of the cast is a part of that, I still think there's a great amount of growth there.'' It was also revealed that Scrubs would be in HD for its eighth season premiere on ABC, and that the network has commissioned six two- to four-minute webisodes to help promote it.
