'RoboCop,' 'Rocky Horror' Remakes Ahead

Director Darren Aronofsky is on board to reboot the ''RoboCop'' saga, while MTV is prepping a ''Rocky Horror Picture Show'' redo

(FROM VARIETY) — Let's do the time warp again, indeed! Two major-franchise reboots have been announced. MGM has tapped director Darren Aronofsky (The Fountain) to jump start a new incarnation of the sci-fi RoboCop franchise. The project, based on the 1987 cult classic from Paul Verhoeven, is being fast-tracked for a 2010 release. Plot details are under wraps. Meanwhile, MTV is getting to work on its own cult-remake: an update of the 1975 musical and midnight-screening staple The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The new two-hour production is expected to keep the same script and score as the original film, but with possible additional songs. Cast, crew, and release date have yet to be revealed.
