Book Review

Mine All Mine (2008)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Writer: Adam Davies; Genres: Crime, Fiction; Publisher: Riverhead

Mild-mannered security guard Otto Starks was the top protector of fine art until a masked thief known as the Rat Burglar pulled off several heists on his watch. With his career in shambles and his relationship with his girlfriend on the rocks, Otto begins to reckon with Murphy's Law. Mine All Mine boasts plenty of quirk — quippy plot-enhancing footnotes are amusing, if a bit distracting — and laugh-out-loud moments, particularly a scene involving an apartment break-in, a priceless African mask, and a certain sex toy. Adam Davies' caper often borders on the predictable: The Rat Burglar's identity is obvious in the first 60 pages. But you'll also predict by page 1 how much you'll enjoy this unabashedly fun book. B+
