The plot is pretty much right there in the title: Zack (Seth Rogen) and Miri (Elizabeth Banks), old friends and roommates, decide to make an amateur porn movie one day because they're broke. Plus, Rogen says, ''I feel like a lot of people want to f--- their friends. That's always relatable.'' But when it came time for the two title characters to actually do the deed, writer-director Smith, never exactly known as a paragon of restraint, told his leads not to doff their clothes. ''A wave of relief came over them,'' recalls Smith. ''Everything was conveyed across their faces. It's pretty romantic and a little naughty at the same time.''
Banks, for one, is happy to talk up Zack and Miri's romantic qualities. ''It's a very sweet movie,'' the actress says. ''I'm telling you, people cry at the end. It's really adorable. The title's misleading.'' Not too misleading, though. Smith promises the film still contains ''the most filthy things we've ever said and done [in my films]. You're not going to walk in and be like, 'There ain't no porn in this movie.'''
OUR TWO CENTS Thankfully, it sounds more Chasing Amy than Jersey Girl, but we're still wrapping our brain around the idea of an adorable Kevin Smith flick. 10/31
