Talking-animal shtick drove 2005's CG-animated Madagascar to a $500 million-plus global gross, so hello, sequel. This time the urbane Central Park Zoo
refugees, along with Baron
Cohen's nutty lemur king, get stranded on the African mainland, where they encounter a stud hippo (voiced by will.i.am) and two territorial lions (Bernie Mac and Alec Baldwin). "We were trying to do something bigger and better, so there's huge amounts of crowds and savanna grass," says returning codirector McGrath. "Which can crash a lot of computers."
OUR TWO CENTS As Shrek 3 proved, DreamWorks knows how to sell sequels and maybe this one will actually be
funny. 11/7
