8-9PM · FOX · Returns Sept. 8
So what's new with the Connors in season 2? ''This season is, as always, (a) not get killed, and (b) prevent a future where the world gets blown up,'' offers exec producer Josh Friedman. In between those imperatives, John (Thomas Dekker) and mom Sarah (Lena Headey) butt heads; Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson joins the cast as an icy tech-company CEO; and Brian Austin Green returns as John's uncle from the future. Enthuses Friedman: ''I still can't believe I cast Brian Austin Green as a badass.'' As for cyborg Cameron (Summer Glau), she's not dead and she's not evolving, either! "That's what people want to do with robot characters, like the Cylons on Battlestar," complains Friedman. ''I'm not interested in exploring [her] growing humanity, I'm interested in exploring the idea of what it means to be a cyborg.''
