In an EXTRA, writer Winifred Watson's son says this buddy film Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day about a dowdy London social secretary and her actress employer was almost made in the '40s with Billie Burke (a.k.a. Glinda the Good Witch). This one, with McDormand and Adams, is a shallow, immensely pleasurable bonbon. B+
