This Western yarn from country icon Willie Nelson and Mike Blakely makes you want to rewrite one of his signature songs: ''Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Write Books About Cowboys.'' A Tale Out of Luck is crammed with stock characters — an excitable young cowpoke; beautiful saloon beer-slingers — and its subplots, including the murder of a horse thief and the hunt for a legendary mare, collide outrageously. Your money would be better spent on a Willie CD — or a tub of his peach cobbler ice cream. C+
