Last season fast-forwarded the show several years — so the gang are all now twentysomething. "The show has been reinvented since we skipped college," says exec producer Mark Schwahn. "We're in the position to be more complex." The season 6 premiere revealed it was music junkie Peyton (Hilarie Burton) that Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) phoned on his way to Vegas, not fashionista Brooke (Sophia Bush) or editor Lindsey (Michaela McManus). ''There are very distinct camps — certainly with Brooke and Peyton,'' Schwahn says. ''But the show wins when people are split in terms of their opinions.''
