So what's new with the Connors in season 2? ''This season is, as always, (a) not get killed, and (b) prevent a future where the world gets blown up,'' offers exec producer Josh Friedman. In between those imperatives, John (Thomas Dekker) and mom Sarah (Lena Headey) butt heads; Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson joins the cast as an icy tech-company CEO; and Brian Austin Green returns as John's uncle from the future. Enthuses Friedman: ''I still can't believe I cast Brian Austin Green as a badass.'' As for cyborg Cameron (Summer Glau), she's not dead — and she's not evolving, either! "That's what people want to do with robot characters, like the Cylons on Battlestar," complains Friedman. ''I'm not interested in exploring [her] growing humanity, I'm interested in exploring the idea of what it means to be a cyborg.''
