Then She Found Me (2008)

Kudos to Hunt for directing, producing, co-writing, and playing a woman who meets her birth mother (Midler) at age 39...and for allowing herself to look real in Then She Found Me. Yep, those are crow's-feet and laugh lines — things you rarely see in Botox-bonkers Hollywood. Hunt's lack of vanity ups the intimacy of this dramedy, which is often funny and touching, despite a distinct lack of chemistry between the star and love interest Firth. B
