Creator Shonda Rhimes says the kiss between Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Erica (Brooke Smith) will be addressed in the return episode: ''We want to deal with what happens when you are a woman who suddenly discovers she's attracted to another woman. We wanted to find the humor in that.'' (To prepare for the subplot, Rhimes met with representatives of GLAAD.) Rhimes also confirms that Rome's Kevin McKidd will recur in season 5 as a doctor and love interest for Sandra Oh's Cristina. As for rumors that Rhimes may kill off Katherine Heigl's character in retaliation for the comments she made about the Emmys, Rhimes once again shoots them down: ''We love the character of Izzie Stevens and look forward to seeing her for quite some time.'' Nicely phrased!
