We last saw Dean (Jensen Ackles) in hell, but as season 4 begins, says exec producer Eric Kripke, ''we're going to pick up four months later; it's been a really fun reset button for the writers to push.... [Dean's brother] Sam [Jared Padalecki] has been off on his own mission of vengeance. Then we keep revealing new dimensions of the guys and secrets they're keeping from each other.'' Kripke says they're upping the stakes this season, vowing ''we're at the point now where we're dealing with full-on end-times apocalypse. Because we had to get there eventually.''
