If Moonlighting and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory got hitched, Pushing Daisies might pop out nine months later. A murder mystery/rom-com set in an ornate loony-tunes world, Daisies concerns a mopey-hunky pie maker (Lee Pace) and his dead childhood sweetie (Ann Friel), whom he resurrects with one-touch-life, second-touch-death powers. (Thus, foreplay = oblivion. Pause to mull subversive subtext.) Chi McBride knits. Kristin Chenoweth sings. Jim Dale narrates. Precious? Only if you're snooty. Daisies dares to be different (even the EXTRAS are easily digestible slices of trivia and insight), whimsical, and sweet as pie. A
