Country Converts

Pop stars-turned-country crooners -- Bon Jovi, Darius Rucker, and Jewel have all hopped genres

Jessica Simpson's not the only pop star going Nashville. A look at other genre-hoppers.

Bon Jovi
A duet with Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles was the first song by a rock act to go No. 1 at country. (But the band's follow-up fizzled at No. 35.)

Darius Rucker
''Don't Think I Don't Think About It'' is No. 3 at country radio. KEEY programmer Gregg Swedburg says, ''There are probably eight hits on his album.''

Jewel
Though she barely tweaked her sound, Jewel courted country by hiring John Rich as producer and opening Brad Paisley's tour.

Kid Rock
''All Summer Long'' is at No. 6 and rising. Its samples of rock staples ''Werewolves of London'' and ''Sweet Home Alabama'' must appeal to country fans too.
