ARRESTS
On Sept. 27, actress Heather Locklear, 47, was picked up on suspicion of
driving under the influence of a controlled substance in Santa Barbara
County, Calif. She was released from custody later that night.

The parents and sisters of Heath Ledger, who were named as sole
beneficiaries in his 2003 will, have announced their intent to donate
the late actor's entire estate to his daughter, Matilda, age 2. Ledger's
$10 million life insurance policy, however, is still being contested by
his insurance company, according to a lawsuit filed in July.... Country
singer Mindy McCready, 32, voluntarily surrendered on Sept. 30 to
Tennessee authorities for a 60-day jail sentence for probation
violation. She pled guilty in 2004 to drug charges.... Comedienne Kathy
Griffin, 46, is demanding unspecified damages from the owner of
kathygriffin.com in a lawsuit filed on Sept. 16 in L.A. Griffin claims
that the owner is collecting cash off her name and image.... The L.A.
County district attorney's office announced Sept. 25 that Shia LaBeouf,
22, will not face DUI charges stemming from his July 27 car accident,
citing insufficient evidence. ''He's thrilled and gratified that charges
will not be filed,'' says LaBeouf's lawyer.... Kanye West, 31, will not
face felony charges stemming from his arrest for a run-in with the
paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport on Sept. 11. The Los
Angeles County district attorney's office referred the case to the city
attorney, who still could slap the rapper with a misdemeanor charge....
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, 60, filed a lawsuit Sept. 24 in L.A.
against an unidentified blogger impersonating the rocker and his
girlfriend, Erin Brady, online.
DEATHS
Longtime Virginia Quarterly Review editor Charlotte Kohler, 99, died
Sept. 15 in Charlottesville, Va., of congestive heart failure. Kohler
published Robert Frost and Jean-Paul Sartre.... Connie Haines, 87,
onetime lead vocalist of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, died Sept. 22 of a
neuromuscular disorder in Clearwater Beach, Fla.... R&B singer Nappy
Brown, 78, passed away Sept. 20 in Charlotte, N.C., of respiratory

A HOLDING PATTERN FOR RUNWAY
Just getting used to the idea that fashion favorite Project Runway would
be finding a new home at Lifetime? Well, not so fast. Lifetime may not
air or promote season 6, which was slated to premiere in January, thanks
to a ruling by an NYC court on Sept. 26. (The judge decided that Runway producers the Weinstein Co. had violated their right of first refusal
agreement with NBC Universal.) Said the Weinstein Co., in a statement,
