OK NOW (2008)

This Hoosier State hunk received a boost last year when he sang ''So Close'' in Enchanted's climactic ballroom sequence. Jon McLaughlin includes a handful of similar-sounding piano ballads on his sophomore CD, but working with Jonas Brothers producer John Fields, he seems determined on OK NOW, with added grooves and pop-rock beats, to prove he's more than a pretty voice. ''You Can Never Go Back'' even works up a disco-glam froth Scissor Sisters would be proud to claim. B+
