Greek director Costa-Gavras is like Oliver Stone with subtlety. Set in Chile during Pinochet's 1973 coup, the political thriller grapples with the real-life disappearance of American journalist Charles Horman (John Shea) and the thickets of red tape faced by his wife (Spacek) and father (Lemmon) as they search for him. If Missing and Lemmon's Oscar- nominated performance isn't heartbreaking enough, the EXTRAS include an interview with Horman's grieving dad. B+
