Greek director Costa-Gavras is like Oliver Stone with subtlety. Set in Chile during Pinochet's 1973 coup, the political thriller grapples with the real-life disappearance of American journalist Charles Horman (John Shea) and the thickets of red tape faced by his wife (Spacek) and father (Lemmon) as they search for him. If Missing — and Lemmon's Oscar- nominated performance — isn't heartbreaking enough, the EXTRAS include an interview with Horman's grieving dad. B+
