Small things happen in Hou Hsiao Hsien's delicate expansion of 1956's Flight of the Red Balloon. Under the impassive eye of a mostly static camera, a harried puppeteer divorcée (Binoche) juggles parenting and everyday travails as her mop-headed son plays piano and pinball. This precious fable will either enchant, or induce ADD. B
