This documentary, at once scary and stirring, chronicles the famous 1972 incident in which a plane full of Uruguayan rugby players crashed in the Andes and the survivors stayed alive by eating the flesh of those who had died. Stranded, which combines testimony by those survivors with staged reenactments of their ordeal, is the opposite of sensational. The men found a queasy valor in their collective decision to do what they had to do. Their recollections aren't gross, they're deeply moving, especially when they describe feeling closer to God than they ever had before, since everything else had been stripped away. B+
