We've told you what we would do if we ran Heroes. But what have producers actually cooked up for our favorite characters in November? Here's a sneak peak.
Sylar
''It's a great year for Sylar,'' says Star Trek's new Spock, Zachary
Quinto, whose performance remains an unimpeachable pleasure. A recent
glimpse into a (possible) future revealed that the power hoarder could
one day conquer his awful urges, atone for his sins, and become a
suburban housedad. ''People might wonder where that son came from,''
teases Quinto, ''and maybe there's some information [coming up] that
leads in that direction.''
Hiro
Feudal Japan was bad enough. This season, Hiro (Masi Oka) has been stuck
chasing after a superfast, gratingly cute mercenary chick and bantering
with his brofriend Ando (James Kyson Lee), a bit of business that got
old halfway through season 1. Hiro's ho-hum direction is about to take a
brilliant-or-bizarre turn when an encounter with Petrelli patriarch
Arthur (Robert Forster) makes a mess of his mind and forces Ando to
teach him anew how to be a Hero.
Claire
Like Hiro, Hayden Panettiere's indestructible (and maybe immortal)
cheerleader has been given some truly clunky material that's saddled one
of the show's iconic stars with hackneyed existential angst and a
laughable leap into action-heroine mode; it's a misguided attempt to
''empower'' the oft-victimized character. Claire's departure from
authentic adolescence will continue when the show pairs her with Kristen
Bell's Elle who tried to kill Claire and her boyfriend last season for a sweeps-month adventure.
Elle
Speaking of the former Veronica Mars, Bell says she's happy to be back
on Heroes after last season's writers' strike cut short her story line.
''I like how they're delving into Elle's past. You see she has
compassion, she does struggle with her choices,'' says Bell. Not only
does Elle have a past connection with Sylar, but look for Arthur
Petrelli to bring the two villains together once again during sweeps. No
ziti will be served but a new twist on Sylar's power will be dished up.
The Petrellis
The looming war between Mama Petrelli (Cristine Rose) and
presumed-dead, now-alive Papa Petrelli over the superpowered destiny of
mankind takes center stage during the ''Villains'' endgame. ''Where did it
all go wrong [for Angela] that she'd be willing to kill her children and
vast amounts of people? You'll find out,'' says Rose. Peter (Milo
Ventimiglia), Nathan (Adrian Pasdar), and recently revealed sibling
Sylar will seemingly choose sides in the episode airing Nov. 17.
