Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music, Volume 4 is the previously unreleased caboose to renegade scholar Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music, which, in the '50s, opened America's ears to early blues and country. Vols. 1-3 are mostly from the '20s; Vol. 4 is Depression-era and reflects the old folkways' collapse. From Robert Johnson to the Carter Family to a pre-bluegrass Bill Monroe Smith's ear for greatness was uncanny. A
