Details Lead Performance: Roy Hargrove

The finest trumpeter of his generation, 30-year-old Roy Hargrove offers a dozen romantic ballads, backed by straightforward strings, on the album Moment to Moment. Poised, pure-toned, and respectful of composers, he shines on first-rate vintage faves like ''You Go to My Head.'' But the newer tunes aren't as memorable, and drummer Willie Jones' original, ''Another Time,'' feels like warmed-over ''Spring Is Here.'' B-
