Steve Miller is not represented on San Francisco Nights, but he's one veteran Bay Area figure not wanting for contemporary consideration. Adding to new CD editions of his many albums, the singer-guitarist has assembled Best of 1968-1973, a compilation of material predating his massive commercial success. Miller's mix of blues, rock, and pop from this era goes down like candy, but this is one best-of too many: More than half the songs — and not the trivial ones, either — already appear on his recently reissued Anthology.
