Why she's here to stay
The 15-year-old has a SAG nomination under her
belt; her Nickelodeon sitcom, True Jackson, VP (about a teenager plucked
from an office lobby to become a fashion exec), scored 4.8 million
viewers in its Nov. 8 premiere; and she's working on a second album.
Her
True identity
How does Palmer compare with her couture-clad alter ego?
''Our styles are a little bit different. She's preppy chic,'' she says.
''I'm vintage hip-hop.'' But she does see similarities: ''We're both
optimistic and funny. Not to mention we look just alike.''
A secret wish
Known for roles in family-friendly fare like Akeelah and the Bee and The
Longshots, Palmer is also quite the comedian which became obvious
during a recent discussion with her team about endorsement deals. ''I
said, 'Well, you know, I've been wanting to do Victoria's Secret for
years...'''
See ya never, Disney
Before Nickelodeon snatched her, Palmer
did a pilot, TV movie, and soundtrack turns for rival teen machine
Disney. But she says the recent Miley Cyrus-Demi Lovato YouTube dustup
makes her happy she found a different home. ''Sometimes people want to
make fun, but nobody fights over here!''
