Consider the title fair warning: A Dog Named Christmas is one of those fluffy yuletide diversions aimed squarely at folks who think It's a Wonderful Life is a little too edgy for the holidays. (And yes, that is the dog's actual name.) Decked out in canned folksiness by first-time author Greg Kincaid, the warm-and-snuggly story of a Kansas farmer who decides to let his developmentally disabled young son adopt a pooch for Christmas 
has all the heart-tugging warmth of a puppy chow ad — and only slightly less depth. D+
