Nemesis (2009)

EW's GRADE
B

Details Writer: Jo Nesbo; Genres: Fiction, Thriller; Publisher: HarperCollins

The Story: In Nemesis, alcoholic cop Harry Hole, on the trail of a murderous bank robber, wakes up after a date with his ex-girlfriend with a fuzzy head, a missing cell phone, and, well, a dead ex-girlfriend. The culprit then plays a lethal cat-and-mouse game with him.
Exotic Locale: Oslo,
 Norway.
Movie Pitch: Imagine Smilla's Sense of Snow crossed with the Denzel Washington thriller Out
of Time.
Lowdown: Jo Nesbø has a knack for Euro noir,
but this 474-page behemoth could be much tauter. B
