More Horrific Tales

Gruesome TV gems -- ''Tales from the Crypt'' and ''Masters of Horror: Season 2'' will appeal to fans of the disturbing stories of ''Tales From the Darkside''

If you dug the disturbing stories from Tales From the Darkside, you might also like these gruesome gems:

Tales From the Crypt
John Kassir, 1989-96
It's tough to find celebs who didn't creep into the Crypt. Look for Tom Hanks, Margot Kidder, Brad Pitt, et al. in the solid fourth season, although many folks consider season 1's ''And All Through the House'' Crypt at its spooky best.

Friday the 13th the Series: Season 2
Louise Robey, John D. LeMay, 26 episodes, 1988-89
The Emmy-nominated spin-off about collecting cursed antiques was better than anyone expected — and not just because Jill Hennessy popped up in episode 21 as ''Spanish Hooker.''

Masters of Horror: Season 2
George Wendt, Meat Loaf, 13 episodes, 2006-07
Grab the first-season boxed set if you must, but we are all about season 2 (with Wendt as a suburban psycho), issued in a limited-edition flip-top skull. If anybody has one, we might be willing to talk trade.

Freddy's Nightmares
Robert Englund, 44 episodes, 1988-90
Maybe viewers couldn't handle seeing Freddy torture innocent medical student Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU), because Nightmares was slashed after two seasons for its violence. No official U.S. release yet, but available online.
