A Page Turner
Congratulations to Tim Appelo for the terrific interview with
V.I. Warshawski star Kathleen Turner (#77). She is easily the best
actress working today. Your interview with her was by far the best
I've read because it was direct and to the point. Thank you, and
thanks to E.J. Camp for her great photos. However, I thought Ty
Burr's video reviews of Turner's Peggy Sue Got Married and The War of
the Roses were way off-both of these pictures deserve A's.

Thing of Beatty
I've often enjoyed a chuckle over the celebrity caricatures in
your magazine, but until Steve Brodner's hilarious depiction of an
expectant Warren Beatty, I hadn't been moved to write. I'd love to
have been a fly on Beatty's wall when he got a load of that!

The illustration of Warren Beatty pregnant was in extremely bad
taste. Please cancel my subscription. I'm sure Beatty would like to
cancel the picture.

No Place Like Homer's
James L. Brooks, producer of The Simpsons, is perfectly justified
in his indignation at the show's shutout of consideration for an Emmy
award again! The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences earns itself
no credit, and does the public a disservice, in failing to honor
television's finest because of a lack of imagination in providing a
proper ''slot'' for a program in the nominating process.

Sweet Corn
I totally agree with the ''Pop Art'' popcorn test. I'm 12 years old
and a bona fide movieholic. My favorite parts of going to the movies
are the popcorn and the previews. Microwave popcorn is too greasy and
salty. Although popcorn at the movies is still best in my opinion, I
congratulate you on a wonderful article.

Party On, Pauly
After reading Ken Tucker's review of MTV's Totally Pauly, I'm a
little upset. I'm over 20 and a woman. I faithfully watch Pauly, and
I understand everything he says. He's witty and eccentric, and I'd
''chill with the Weasel'' any day.

James and Squeeze
Cheers for Dave Marsh. After reading his (enthusiastic) review of
Love Over-Due by James Brown, I ran to the music store. After six or
seven listenings, I felt the same way as Diamond Dave.

Shame on you and all who fail to appreciate the talent of Squeeze.
Granted, Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook may never attain the
heights of their early career, but with frauds Paula Abdul and C+C
Music Factory high on the charts, it's better than ever to hear this
talented act take such care in pop craft.
