Which of the show's new elements deserved a gold statuette, and which deserved a Razzie?

Hugh Jackman: A
Was he born in a tux? The host killed during the opening number and hardly put a foot wrong all night — doubly impressive given his participation in the desperately old-school musicals tribute.

Quintuple Presenters: B+
Five Oscar-winning thesps oversaw each acting award. The nominees were clearly touched (though this didn't help the ceremony's running time).

The New ''Structure'': C
The show's ballyhooed ''narrative'' involved awarding the more technical trophies in an order that echoed the filmmaking process. Alas, the news that sound mixing occurs after art direction didn't make either category any more thrilling.

No Speech From Outgoing Academy President Sid Ganis: A+
And the award for most gratefully received new Oscars initiative goes to...
