Details Release Date: Mar 10, 2009; Lead Performance: The Dream; Genre: R&B

The material obsession that courses throughout the sophomore disc by this megasuccessful songwriter-turned-singer comes as no surprise, considering the title. But as the Black Eyed Peas once wondered, Where is the love? ''If you got a booty, shorty, show me your thong,'' The-Dream demands on the final track on Love Vs. Money, as if paying tribute to Andy Samberg and the Lonely Island guys. That alpha-jerk machismo is mitigated somewhat by the intoxicating future-soul sonics on songs like ''Right Side of My Brain.'' But The-Dream's vision of romance mostly plays like a nightmare. C+
