As the audience for modern African music grows in the U.S., the releases just keep coming. Kotoja, a band led by Nigerian bassist Ken Okulolo, has a fervent San Francisco following for its mix of African pop and American funk. The group's debut, Freedom Is What Everybody Needs, could use some of that live energy, though. B
