Jorge Nunez: 'Nothing to Be Sad About'

Being one of the first sent home during the American Idol finals is heartbreaking, sure. But Jorge Nuñez — the cool-cat 20-year-old crooner from Carolina, Puerto Rico — is taking it well. He rang up EW to talk about how he's feeling after the ouster, what he'll do next, and who he'd like to work with in the future (hint: she used to go by J.Lo).

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How are you feeling about how everything went down last night?
JORGE NUÑEZ: I feel very happy, and I feel very fulfilled. And I feel that this is just the start of what's gonna be even bigger later.

On that note, what do you want to happen next? How are you going to continue in your music career?
I'm going to continue in my music career, and definitely hoping that in a year I can be recording my first album, which is going to be in Spanish.

Oh, so definitely Spanish?
I owe it to the Latino community. Of course, I was thinking about, if I record — which I will — I was thinking about doing the same album in Spanish and in English.

Then everyone wins!
They all liked me. It'll be great. I'm so happy. This show is such a big opportunity.

Everyone was fascinated with the support from Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony. I know it all just went down last night, but did you hear from them yet?
No, as of today I haven't heard nothing from them. I suppose that eventually I will. I know that they are hoping the best for me. We Puerto Ricans, we stick together.

How cool is it that they were fans?
That's amazing. It's weird, though, because they know me and I don't know them. It's like, why can't I know you first? But it's cool, even though, because when I meet them it's going to be even better.

Would you ever consider recording with them?
Of course! I would love to record with Jennifer Lopez, and I would love to do a duet with Marc Anthony. That is like too much for me.
