Danny Boyle's freshly minted Best Picture winner Slumdog Millionaire is the most rousing little-movie-that-could story to come out of Hollywood (or Bollywood) in ages. Dev Patel plays an 18-year-old Muslim tea boy from the slums of Mumbai who finds
himself one guess away from the top prize on India's version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. How he knows all of the
answers is revealed in a series of dizzying flashbacks. There's never really any doubt about whether he'll succeed, or if he'll reunite with his lost love (the dazzling and easy-on-the-eyes Freida Pinto). But Boyle's sentimental film is all about the journey, not the destination. And if you don't already know, stick around for the dance sequence during the end credits. EXTRAS include lively commentaries by Boyle and Patel,
a slew of deleted scenes, and a making-of featurette. A–
