How have the grunge-era vets of Everclear managed to survive and prosper in the age of teen pop? Good tunes and spirited playing on Songs From an American Movie, Vol. 2: Good Time for a Bad Attitude factor into the equation, but Everclear's real secret is their wry humor (best captured on the surging, self-mocking ''Rock Star''). Head malcontent Art Alexakis could probably teach a course in angst but wisely opts to splash and play around in the slough of despair, not wallow in it. Kurt Cobain might've learned a thing or two from him. B+
