''What starts in a Robinson Crusoe castaway setting becomes like an episode of The Twilight Zone,'' says Rockwell of the sci-fi mystery set sometime in the future. He stars as a corporate worker who has been sent to live on the moon for three years in order to mine an energy source for Earth. With the exception of a few transmissions from home and the companionship of a robot on board named Gerty (voiced by Kevin Spacey), Sam is completely isolated — and begins to emotionally unravel just a few weeks before his return. It's here where the film goes from sci-fi to a ''really interesting psychological experiment,'' says Rockwell. ''He finds himself.''
