Nothing ruins a nice family vacation to Maine quite like an alien invasion. But when a nerdy high schooler (Jenkins) is forced to ward off uninvited extraterrestrials and protect his family (which includes dad Kevin Nealon, uncle Andy Richter, and grandma Doris Roberts), he steps up to be the unlikely hero. Tisdale, the High School Musical grad who plays the guy's bratty older sister, says her character quickly changes gears from vexing to vulnerable: ''When she encounters the aliens, it's like her whole world is spinning out of control.'' Tisdale says the kid-friendly action comedy pays homage to E.T. and Gremlins. Perhaps its intergalactic cutie will vie with Gizmo to be the lovable alien for a new generation.
