Adapting his 1992 memoir Fever Pitch for the screen, Brit writer Nick Hornby (High Fidelity) somewhat muddles his treatise on the obsessive inner workings of unapologetic soccer fanatics with the predictable story of two disparate teachers trying to build a relationship as Arsenal vies for the 1989 championship. This quiet romantic comedy ultimately lacks much real action on or off the field. C+
