John Hiatt: Stolen Moments

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Genre: Documentary; With: John Hiatt; Network: VH1

A half-hour commercial for Hiatt's new album, Stolen Moments, but what a commercial: Hiatt strums an acoustic guitar and sings a number of first-rate songs from his album, tunes about commitment and family, trust and romance. Between performances, he talks easily about creativity (''I've been writing songs since I was 11; by now there's a quarter-century of mediocre-to-good songs that wouldn't exist without me'') and about what it's like to be a rocker living and recording in Nashville (''The secret of this town is, country-music people love rock & roll''). Modest and charming, Hiatt isn't a colorful rock artist, just a good one. B+
