Mel Gibson, 53, and his girlfriend, Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva, 39, will reportedly welcome their first child together. The actor has seven kids with his wife of 28 years, Robyn, who filed for divorce in April. Grigorieva has a son with actor Timothy Dalton.
CONTROVERSY
Brooke Shields, 43, is accusing a freelance reporter of signing her mother, Teri, 75, out of her nursing home in Old Tappan, N.J., on May 14 in the hopes of getting a story for the National Enquirer. ''I intend to take every lawful action against all who were involved or who authorized this despicable act,'' Shields said in a statement to People.com. In response, the Enquirer said: ''A freelance reporter who has known Teri for more than 10 years visited her Thursday at the assisted-living facility. Teri asked the reporter to take her out to lunch and to run some errands. The freelance reporter then got permission from the facility to do so.''

Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford will play the lead in Paramount's remake of Footloose, the studio announced May 19. Zac Efron previously passed on the role.
AILING
Survivor: Africa winner Ethan Zohn, 35, was diagnosed with a rare form of Hodgkin's disease, and began chemotherapy on May 15.

Singer John Legend, 30, returned to his alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania, on May 17 to deliver a commencement speech. ''No matter what careers or hobbies you pursue after leaving here, do them with soul,'' he said.
COURTS
The ongoing legal battle between Rob Lowe (Brothers & Sisters), 45, and his former nanny, Jessica Gibson, 25, was settled May 13, with both sides requesting their respective lawsuits be dismissed. In April 2008, the actor sued Gibson, alleging that she threatened to spread lies about his family unless she was paid $1.5 million. A week later, Gibson, who had worked for Lowe for seven years, filed suit, claiming she'd been groped and harassed by the actor.... Woody Allen, 73, who filed a lawsuit in March against American Apparel, settled the dispute May 18. The clothing company agreed to pay Allen $5 million for using his image from Annie Hall in their ads without permission.... 300 star Gerard Butler, 39, was charged with misdemeanor battery on May 14 in connection with an incident last October in which he allegedly punched a photographer in the mouth. The actor is scheduled to appear in court on June 10 and could face up to six months in jail if convicted.
ROBBED
The L.A. home of Rachel Bilson, 28, was burglarized while the actress was visiting her fiancé Hayden Christensen in Canada. (Items taken included designer clothing and jewelry.) Police are investigating.
RELEASED
Survivor winner Richard Hatch, 48, who was sentenced to serve four years in prison for federal tax evasion in 2006, has been transferred from a West Virginia federal prison to a halfway house in Philadelphia. Hatch's time at the facility is expected to end on Oct. 7.
DEATHS
Atlanta rapper Dolla (né Roderick Anthony Burton II), 21, was fatally shot on May 18 at the Beverly Center in L.A. The next morning, the LAPD arrested suspect Aubrey Berry, 23, and set his bail at $1 million. Berry could not be reached for comment.... Hollywood publicist Lee Solters, 89, who represented Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand, died May 18 in L.A. With additional reporting by Stewart Allen

The youngest competitor in Dancing With the Stars history just powered
through an 11-week crash course in growing up. Olympic
gold-medal-winning gymnast Shawn Johnson 17, took the top Dancing prize
after mastering heavy makeup, three-inch heels, and the tango not to
mention dealing with the distraction of a stalker scare in March.
Johnson and partner Mark Ballas, 23, edged out Sex and the City hunk
Gilles Marini, 33, by less than 1 percent of the combined judges' scores
and viewer votes. Moments after her triumph, EW asked the gymnast if
we'd be seeing any ballroom moves in her floor routines. ''I don't know

Cynthia Nixon: Engaged in the City
Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is ready to make her relationship
official. Speaking on May 17 at an NYC rally in support of a
same-sex-union bill proposed by New York governor David Paterson, the
43-year-old actress announced her engagement to girlfriend Christine
Marinoni, 42. ''We want to get married right here in New York City where
we live, where our kids live, where our friends can just stroll down the
block to wish us well,'' Nixon told the crowd, which included Paterson,
Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and SATC costar Kristin Davis. ''And not
incidentally, we would like to spend our wedding revenue dollars here in
