Requiem for a Paper Bag edited by Davy Rothbart

Credits

Genres: Humor, Nonfiction; Publisher: Fireside
If you're seeking a voyeuristic charge, you'll find it in Found, the oddball little magazine about other people's stuff. The dozens of Found admirers gathered in this collection, Requiem for a Paper Bag — from Andy Samberg to Dave Eggers to Chuck D — wax poetic about their own scavenged goods. An unearthed breakup letter, for instance, elicits both snickers and gut-punching disappointment. Some contributors curse their inability to decode cryptic notes, some extrapolate into short fiction, some deliver great punchlines, and some, unfortunately, fall flat. As with most archaeology, you'll have to do some digging — but the rewards are there. B+
