That old joke about watching the TV commercials and ignoring the shows applies to this New York synth trio's second album. When Information Society layers sound bites from TV, radio, records, and the telephone over hip-hop beats, Hack conveys the chaos of urban streets with a palpable sense of reality. Unfortunately, these exciting moments are surrounded by plodding and badly sung techno-dance songs. D+
