Trust your ears, not your eyes when it comes to this one. Because contrary to his Cherokee-hunk cover image, Ricky Lynn Gregg actually has a smooth, spirited honky-tonk wail. And despite being occasionally overwhelmed by a heavy-handed arrangement, he settles in comfortably on the straight country numbers. Ricky Lynn Gregg is an impressive debut. B
